A youth-led mental health/psychology organization dedicated to destigmatizing mental health issues. At Illness Not Weakness NC, we provide opportunities for students to get involved in volunteering through content creation, collaboration, and advocacy so those who are interested in this respective field can gain experience and build their interpersonal skills. Illness Not Weakness is a great chance for everybody to get involved.

Volunteer Activities
Content creation: writing articles, creative stories/personal memoirs, making podcast episodes, interviewing professionals, creating compilation books of mental health-related work Resource Development: creating infographics dedicated to specific factors pf psychology, creating virtual art/cards that will be shared with mental health institutions, researching new discoveries in the psychology field Research Advocacy: Collect data and focus on specific topics or interests and create google forms that can be shared online and w/ other members. These forms will collect responses that can be included in members’ projects, interview professionals or those who have a mental health disorder and use their responses (w/ permission). Volunteers can even recruit individuals by asking their friends, family, etc., volunteers can use the data from surveys or interviews to create graphs or charts to represent the findings. Volunteers will also assemble and edit reports that present the information accurately and executive summaries that highlight key findings, volunteers can host their own meetings/webinars to present their findings and talk about their experience with INW. Collaboration: partner with local orgs or schools to implement different services that teach individuals in the community about mental health, psychology, and well-being. Volunteers can host live sessions where professionals discuss different topics, provide advice, and answer questions, and peer mentorship where volunteers from all organizations involved can gather to offer training and guidance on mental health/psychology through different means (content creation, interviews, fundraising)
