The mission of the Black Mountain Center for the Arts is to bring arts to the people and people to the arts by providing a center for celebrating the arts and a forum for stimulating artistic endeavors.​ Our challenge is also to discover ways to honor our unique heritage while introducing community members to art forms that invite them to probe deeply into the values of dignity, respect, and the joy the arts bring to their lives and to the life of the Swannanoa Valley.
